Scotland - Dunkeld to St Andrews

We were still in the Cairngorms National Park when we decided to stop for a look at Braemar Castle near the River Dee. It is a restored 17th century castle, owned by the chief of Clan Farquharson and predominantly used as a hunting lodge.  It replaced a much older royal castle, Kindrochit, built by Malcolm Canmore in 1059. Only a few ruined walls of that remain.
